Main Street Lighting Upgrades Before and After
Streetlights on Main Street and South A Street were upgraded to LED fixtures as part of an emergency safety upgrade partnership with the Oregon Department of Transportation starting in December 2021. The installation was completed in the first quarter of 2022 with 200 streetlights upgraded to LED fixtures and 100 LED streetlights added to existing poles.
These lights improve visibility for drivers and aid them in seeing pedestrians and bicyclists along this corridor. Operating and maintaining these lights is also more economical, the cost to power the lights is substantially less than the previous lights.
Below is a before and after comparison at several locations on Main Street and South A Street. Each “before and after” photo was taken with the same camera settings and has not been edited for exposure or lighting.
