NARRATIVE OF INCIDENT:
On April 8, 2024, a Springfield Police Department Officer noticed a Facebook Marketplace listing of multiple high-value home improvement tools that appeared to be new and listed well below retail. Another officer was familiar with the named individual associated with the Facebook profile and began looking into the listings.
The officer discovered that the suspect was already under arrest and currently being held at the Lane County Jail. The officer interviewed the suspect about the nature of the goods, at which point he confessed that the tools were stolen. The suspect disclosed where the stolen goods were being held and provided information on where some of the contents had been taken from.
The officer was able to work with the storage business where the tools were being held and gain access to the unit. Officers discovered over $8,000 worth of used and new tools in the unit.
Many of the tools were stolen from retailers in the area, however many appear to be stolen from individuals. If you recognize any of the goods in the photo, please contact the Springfield Police Department via e-mail at police@springfield-or.gov and reference case number 24-2465.
