Springfield City Hall, including the Springfield Public Library, will delay opening until 11 a.m., tomorrow, Wednesday, January 17 due to the ongoing icy conditions and weather. City Hall and the Public Library will be open until 6 p.m. tomorrow.

Springfield Municipal Court will be closed to the public tomorrow. However, virtual court hearings will continue as scheduled. Please contact your attorney if you have one. For all other inquiries, email Court staff at courts@springfield-or.gov.

As this weather event continues, we encourage drivers to only drive when necessary, as conditions can be dangerous. Also, fewer vehicles on the road will allow better access for first responders including Springfield Police Department, Eugene Springfield Fire, and Operations Division with Development and Public Works, and our TEAM Springfield partner Springfield Utility Board.

In some of the hardest hit areas, the Springfield Police Department and Eugene Springfield Fire are going door to door to check on residents, but we ask community members to please check on your neighbors and especially the elderly to make sure they are staying safe and warm and have needed supplies.

The Operations Division is continuing to sand roads and remove fallen trees and branches to improve driving conditions, but hazards still exist and can change frequently. It has been challenging to safely access some hillsides including the Thurston Hills and Kelly Butte. They are back in the hills today working to make roads passable so long as it is safe to do so.

The City’s first responders including Springfield Police Department, Eugene Springfield Fire and Operations Division staff continue to be in service to the Springfield community.
