NARRATIVE OF INCIDENT:
On February 15th, 2024 at 3:51 PM Officers and Detectives with the Springfield Police Department responded to a residence in the 4600 block of Aster Street regarding a shooting incident. Officers located three family members, one of which was deceased due to a gunshot wound. It was learned there had been a family dispute that led to the shooting incident.
After collecting evidence from the home, statements from witnesses, and statements from the involved, Jack Edward Smith was taken into custody without incident and lodged at the Lane County Jail for the charge of Murder II.
