The Springfield Heritage Awards are presented annually to recognize significant achievements in stewardship of the physical and cultural heritage of the geographic area we now call Springfield, Oregon.

Presented by the Springfield Historic Commission and the Springfield History Museum, these awards recognize a broad array of stewardship activities that increase awareness, appreciation, and support an inclusive perspective of local heritage.

Award recipients are selected by the Mayor. The Mayor’s award will be informed by input from a jury that includes representatives of the Historic Commission and the History Museum Committee and members of the community selected by the Mayor. This is a recognition award promoting exceptional commitment and achievement; no monetary awards are associated with this program. Up to 3 awards per category may be presented each year, at the discretion of the Mayor with input from the jury.

Preservation Excellence Award – FOR PROJECTS – Recognition of outstanding projects, including but not limited to:

• Historic preservation/restoration – restoration, rehabilitation, or adaptive use of historic buildings, structures, sites, or cultural landscapes.
• Research/outreach activities – activities related to the identification, protection, and interpretation of heritage resources, such as research, preservation planning, surveys, education, and outreach projects.

History Maker Award – FOR PERSON/ENTITY – Recognition of individuals, organizations, companies, and public agencies that demonstrate leadership in shaping, preserving, and fostering appreciation of local heritage – past, present, and future.

• Legacy/Lifetime – significant contributions over time to the advancement of the preservation of heritage resources in Springfield, Oregon.
• Change Agent – recent/ongoing actions and innovation that are shaping the present-day community and will have a profound impact for years to come.

Premio a la Excelencia en Preservación – PARA PROYECTOS – Reconocimiento de proyectos sobresalientes, incluyendo pero no limitado a:

• Preservación/restauración histórica: restauración, rehabilitación o uso adaptativo de edificios, estructuras, sitios o paisajes culturales históricos.
• Actividades de investigación/divulgación: actividades relacionadas con la identificación, protección e interpretación de los recursos patrimoniales, como investigación, planificación de la conservación, encuestas, educación y proyectos de divulgación.

Premio History Maker/ Premio Hacedor de Historia – PARA PERSONA/ENTIDAD – Reconocimiento de individuos, organizaciones, empresas y agencias públicas que demuestran liderazgo en la formación, preservación y fomento de la apreciación del patrimonio local – pasado, presente y futuro.

• Legacy/Lifetime-Legado/Vida útil: contribuciones significativas a lo largo del tiempo para el avance de la preservación de los recursos patrimoniales en Springfield, Oregón.
• Agente de cambio: acciones e innovación recientes/en curso que están dando forma a la comunidad actual y tendrán un profundo impacto en los años venideros.
