The City of Springfield’s Development and Public Works Department is making it easier to access Community Development services with updated online features and a new self-service kiosk.

Now customers who submit permits using the ePermitting portal will experience a more streamlined review process. Staff can respond more quickly with review feedback provided directly through user accounts. This also allows for easier access to project information and documentation. The new service began just last week and is available for anyone submitting building permits with the City.

In addition to the upgraded online services, a self-service kiosk is now located outside of the Community Development Counter at City Hall to access community development services any time City Hall is open, even during days or times the development counter isn’t open. The easy to use, interactive kiosk with touchscreen display provides planning, building, licensing, and permitting services. The kiosk allows users to:

  • Scan documents
  • Print applications
  • Schedule inspections
  • Speak with staff
  • Apply for permits and licenses
  • Submit questions

The Community Development Division completed 1684 building permit reviews for FY23 including 665 commercial permits and 1019 residential permits.
