Protected Leave
Qualifications and Factors to Determine Leave Benefits
Revised Administrative Regulation on Family Medical Leave: Significant updates to the City’s Administrative Regulation regarding Family Medical Leave will be effective June 1, 2023. The revised regulation aims to provide clearer guidelines on how to request a leave, leave notification, and medical certification process. Additionally, it changes the calculation of the leave year from a 12-month look-back to a rolling forward year. This change was made to align with the leave year calculation for Paid Leave Oregon which starts in September. All employees are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the revised regulation which is available on the City’s Springboard page under the “Resources/Administrative Regulations & Policies“ section.
New Protected Leave Request Submission Process: Starting June 1, 2023, all new protected leave requests, including Family Medical Leave and Military leave, should be submitted through our leave management provider, Lincoln Financial.
