Tim Doney Named New Police Chief
Tim Doney has been selected as Springfield Oregon’s new Police Chief. Doney was chosen from a pool of 50 applicants during an intense process that lasted more than three months. He is expected to start on December 18th.
Doney (47) is a long time Oregonian and a member of the Medford Police Department for more than 25 years. During his time of service he has served as a patrol officer, a detective, patrol sergeant, detective sergeant and lieutenant and for the last two years has served as the Deputy Police Chief. Doney’s experience includes direct responsibility for a staff of 121 and a budget of $15 million. In comparison, the Springfield Police Chief oversees 123 employees and a total adopted budget of $19.7 million.
Springfield City Manager Gino Grimaldi said the choice was made after an extensive recruitment process. “Tim Doney possesses the character, integrity, creativity and dedication that are the cornerstone of what we expect in Springfield” said City Manager Gino Grimaldi. “I have full confidence that he will lead our department into the future as we face challenges and opportunities moving forward.”
