Information For Jurors

The Springfield Municipal Court has jury trials tentatively scheduled for the following days and times:

Tuesdays @ 9:30 AM

Wednesdays @ 9:30 AM

Fridays @ 9:30 AM

Jurors may begin calling the jury line, 541-726-2352, after 5:00 PM beginning the Monday one week prior to the week you are to serve on jury duty. Trials are often settled out of court just before the time of trial. We will continuously update the jury line regarding any changes. Please call the jury line prior to reporting for any scheduled time.

For information, special accommodations, or postponement requests, contact the Springfield Jury Clerk by clicking the button above or by calling 541-726-3748.

ORS 10.030 states, “Except as otherwise specifically provided by statute, the opportunity for jury service shall not be denied or limited on the basis of race, national origin, gender, age, religious belief, income, occupation or any other factor the discriminates against a cognizable group in the state.”

Any request for postponement, disqualification or excuse must be obtained by completing and returning the Affidavit of Prospective Juror that was mailed to you with your notification of jury service within 5 days. Please do not wait until your term of jury duty to file your request.

ORS 10.090(1) reads, “An employer shall not discharge or threaten to discharge, intimidate, or coerce any employee by reason of the employee’s service or scheduled service as a juror on a grand jury, trial jury, or jury of inquest.” Inconvenience to a prospective juror or an employer is not a legal reason to be excused from jury service. You may request to be deferred rather than excused.
