On Sunday October 17th, 2021 at 4:26 am, Springfield Police officers responded to a menacing with a firearm report that occurred in the McDonald’s drive-thru at 3405 Gateway St., Springfield. It was reported that a man in a black Dodge Charger threatened another person in the drive-thru with a handgun. The suspect left the area after receiving his order.

The caller provided a vehicle description and license plate that returned to 4885 Aster Apartment #36 in east Springfield.  When officers arrived at the residence, they were met at the front door by the suspect who was holding a firearm and pointing it in the direction of the officers. The officers put their de-escalation training to work and tried to get the suspect to put the gun down. The suspect refused to drop the firearm and slammed the door on the officers.

Officers secured the area around the residence and continued to try to deescalate the situation by contacting the suspect on his cell phone. The suspect, identified as twenty-two-year-old, Consavi Gavin Savath, eventually surrendered to police but denied having possessed any firearms.  The other three adults inside the apartment were contacted but refused to cooperate.

Springfield Police Detectives were called to assist. Detectives obtained a search warrant through the Lane County Circuit Court.  During service of the warrant for the apartment, police found an AR style rifle, four black semi-automatic pistols, and multiple magazines and ammunition.

Savath was charged with Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Menacing, and Unlawful Use of a Weapon. He was taken to the Lane County Jail. Savath also had an outstanding Parole warrant for Unlawful Use of a Weapon and Assault 3. Weapons Recovered
