NARRATIVE OF INCIDENT:
On November 5th, 2023, at 11:18 PM a masked man entered Patty’s Deli at 2327 Olympic Street in Springfield. The man approached an employee working the front counter and revealed he had a handgun. He demanded money, was given cash, and then fled the location.
The case was assigned to the Springfield Police Department’s Investigation Division for follow-up. After contacting witnesses and locating video surveillance in the area, Detectives were able to identify 45 year old James Crabtree as the suspect.
On November 12th, 2023, at 1030 PM Officers and Detectives with the Springfield Police Department located Crabtree at the Value Inn Motel, 595 Highway 99 in Eugene. Officers attempted to contact Crabtree, but he fled on foot. After a short foot chase, Crabtree was taken into custody without incident. A subsequent search warrant was executed on his room at the motel and detectives located approximately 1 pound of methamphetamines.
