SPRINGFIELD, OR – The Springfield Public Library has announced 21 student winners of the 2025–2026 Children’s Bookmark Contest. Mayor Sean VanGordon congratulated the winners during the February 2 Springfield City Council meeting.

Now in its 45th year, the contest invited Springfield students in Kindergarten through 12th grade to create original artwork inspired by books, libraries, or this year’s Summer Reading theme: “Plant a Seed, Read.” The contest received nearly 1,800 entries from across local schools.

Winning bookmarks have been professionally printed and are now available at the Springfield Public Library. Oversized display versions are on view at the library throughout the year, and schools with winning artists also received large versions to display.

In celebration of the young artists, all 1,800 submissions will be displayed in the Youth Gallery at Springfield City Hall throughout the month of March. The display will include an interactive “I Spy” game, courtesy of the Springfield Arts Commission, which also helps support the contest.
