This crash occurred in the parking lot of Waypoint Church, across the street from Thurston High School. Investigators learned that a dispute between two juveniles preceded the crash. Investigators developed probable cause to arrest the driver of the vehicle on multiple charges related to the crash. The pedestrian that was injured is a 14-year-old current Thurston High student. The driver of the vehicle is a 17-year-old former Thurston High student. He was charged with DUII, Assault in the 2nd degree, and Criminal Mischief 2. He was transported to and lodged at the Serbu youth detention facility. The names of the involved are being withheld, due to their ages. ***
NARRATIVE OF INCIDENT:
SPD is currently investigating a vehicle/pedestrian crash near Thurston High School in the 300 block of 58th Street. The crash resulted in significant injury. Traffic is not impacted. Details are limited, at this time.
