Welcome artists!

We can’t wait to see your ideas for UpStream Art 2024! Four artists will be selected and compensated $1,500 each for the successful completion of their mural.

To apply:

  1. Review the UpStream Art FAQ & Rules posted on this website.
  2. Create an original sketch or graphic of your mural idea on this year’s theme: “Show a connection between humans and waterways through a storm drain. An optional prompt, if you choose to use it, is the slogan ‘Clean Rivers Start Here.’” Ensure you can finish painting your mural during the assigned times (spanning 2 days at 8-hours each day), using traffic paints provided by the City. The artwork must include the following information somewhere in the design:

• City of Springfield
• springfieldstreams.org

File specifications:

  • 200 dpi or more.
Maximum email size: 25MB
Optional information
you might also like to send:
  • Optional reference photos that may familiarize the judges with your work.
  • If the design is a digital drawing, consider including photos or links to paintings you’ve done. This can help judges determine the criteria: “feasibility of creating the work within the timeframe (16 hours).”
  • If you win, you will be asked to provide: A headshot-style photo for the website and other promotions. In focus, good lighting, ideally smiling and making eye contact with the camera. Showing some personality is great. Minimum size 4-inches on the shortest side and 300dpi (larger is great too).
