NARRATIVE OF INCIDENT:

On August 18^th, 2026, at approximately 3:16 PM, the Springfield Police Department responded to the intersection of S. 35^th Street and Oregon Ave for a reported traffic crash involving a vehicle and pedestrians.

The preliminary investigation indicates a 2026 Volkswagen SUV that was traveling westbound on Oregon Avenue struck a 2015 Toyota SUV that was traveling northbound on S. 35^th Street. The impact of the crash caused the Toyota to roll over and land on top of four pedestrians walking on the sidewalk in the northwest corner of the intersection.

Three of the four pedestrians were transported by ambulance to the hospital with injuries ranging from minor to serious but not life threatening. The drivers of both involved vehicles are cooperating with the investigation and impairment is not suspected to be a contributing factor of the crash. The Springfield Police Department’s Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) is currently investigating the crash.
