NARRATIVE OF INCIDENT:
On Friday, November 7th, shortly after 4pm, SPD received a call of a two-vehicle collision near the intersection of Pioneer Parkway East and “F” Street. Responding officers arrived on scene, one minute after the call to 911, and located the drivers of both vehicles. Officers found an unconscious female in the driver’s seat of one of the vehicles. Officers rendered aid until medics arrived. That driver was transported to a local hospital for treatment, but she later succumbed to her injuries.
The preliminary investigation indicates a 2018 Hyundai Elantra was traveling westbound on “F” Street crossing Pioneer Parkway East and 2010 Audi A6 was traveling northbound on Pioneer Parkway East. The Audi struck the driver’s side of the westbound Hyundai. The Springfield Police Department Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) is currently investigating the crash. Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in this crash. The name of the deceased is being withheld pending next of kin notification.
