NARRATIVE OF INCIDENT:
On March 7th, 2023, at 2:13 PM Springfield Police Department responded to a suspicious death at Midway Manor Mobile Home Park, 1625 Henderson Ave in Eugene. Based on evidence at the scene, the death was determined to be a homicide. Officers and Detectives with the Springfield Police Department began investigating the incident and learned a male suspect had left the scene in the victim’s vehicle.

At 4:11 PM on the same day, a citizen called to report a suspicious vehicle parked in the 1000 Block of Linda Lane in Springfield. That suspicious vehicle turned out to be the victim’s stolen vehicle. Multiple agencies responded to the area of the vehicle and set up a large perimeter. During the search, the suspect was captured on home surveillance attempting to gain entry to another residence. At 5:37 PM, after an extensive man hunt, the suspect, Michael Hill was located and arrested near 54th and Main Street in Springfield.

If it were not for the assistance of observant citizens and local agencies to include the Oregon State Police, the Lane County Sheriff’s Office, the Eugene Police Department, and the Springfield Police Department this dangerous offender would not have been apprehended in such a swift manner.
