Springfield, Oregon – As first responders, a team from the City of Springfield’s Operations Division of Development and Public Works is answering the call for help in Burns, Oregon. Six maintenance technicians, along with two pickup trucks and two dump trucks, have been sent to assist with flood response and recovery efforts. The crew will work alongside local teams to help clear debris, restore infrastructure, and support the community in getting back on its feet after severe flooding. Their expertise in street maintenance, stormwater management, wastewater operations, and debris removal will be critical in aiding Burns’ recovery efforts.
This mutual aid effort reflects the strong partnerships between cities and their public works departments and state agencies across Oregon. When the 2024 ice storm caused significant damage in our area, outside agencies stepped in to help the City of Springfield restore roads, clear fallen trees, and get our community back to normal. Now, we’re honored to do the same for Burns. Often working behind the scenes, our Development and Public Works maintenance crews are the unsung first responders, clearing roads, restoring infrastructure, and helping communities recover and move forward. The willingness of City staff to step up in times of crisis is a testament to their dedication and the collaborative spirit of public service.
