Grupo de Lectura welcomes all to explore From the Source in June and July
Springfield, OR – The Springfield Public Library invites community members to connect through literature, language, and shared stories at a special series of Grupo de Lectura events featuring local author and musician Mago Gilson. Gilson will present her new memoire From the Source (De primera Fuente) and engage in conversations about culture, identity, and resilience.
“We are overjoyed for this special opportunity to feature a local musician an author Mago Gilson for our June and July Grupo events,” said librarian Kristen Curé. “Gilson is an engaging speaker and talented artist. Our community is in for a treat.”
About the Book:
From the Source: Memoirs of Mago Gilson offers a moving portrait of love, loss, and the pursuit of a better life. From her roots in Chiapas, Mexico, to her experiences navigating migration and resilience in the United States, Gilson’s story is a powerful testament to strength and cultural pride.
How to participate:
All are welcome to join these free events. Participants are encouraged to register in advance to receive a complimentary copy of the book while supplies last.

About the Programs:
Springfield Celebrates Authors is an ongoing initiative to connect local and global writers with the Springfield community. Grupo de Lectura is a Spanish-language book club that explores literary works from across the Spanish-speaking world, with a focus on regional and Oregon-based authors.

Springfield, OR – La Biblioteca Pública de Springfield invita a los miembros de la comunidad a conectarse a través de la literatura, el idioma y las historias compartidas durante una serie especial de eventos del Grupo de Lectura con la autora y músico local Mago Gilson. Gilson presentará su nuevo libro de memorias De primera fuente (From the Source) y participará en conversaciones sobre la cultura, la identidad y la resiliencia.
