Springfield, OR – The Springfield Public Library’s 45th Annual Bookmark Contest opens on Monday, November 24th, 2025 for youth in Springfield in grades K through 12.
Springfield area students grades K through 12 are invited to pick up or print their entry forms for Springfield Public Library’s annual bookmark contest starting on Monday, November 24th, 2025. The theme for this year’s contest is “Plant a Seed, Read”, which is also the theme for the 2026 Summer Reading Program. Entries must be submitted on the official entry form, available on the library website and in person in the library. Artwork should match the contest theme or be about libraries, books, or reading in general. Entries in English and/or Spanish are welcome. One entry is permitted for each student.
“The Bookmark Contest is a well-loved and longstanding tradition in the city,” said Abigail Craig, Youth Services Librarian. “Many adults, including at least one who works for the city, have told me how much they remember creating designs, or even winning and getting copies of their bookmarks. And even if you don’t officially win the contest, you still get to be part of our display of all of the entries in the Springfield Arts Commission Youth Gallery during the month of March. Visitors to the gallery can participate in an “I Spy” game featuring details to find among the many bookmarks in the show.” The Bookmark Contest is supported by the Springfield Arts Commission.
Winners will be recognized at the February City Council Meeting, receive a poster print of their bookmark, and a stack of their bookmarks to share with friends and family. The bookmarks will be available for free in the library throughout the year. All entries are due by 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 6, 2026.

Springfield, OR – El 45º Concurso Anual de seperadores de paginas de la Biblioteca Pública de Springfield se abre el lunes 24 de noviembre de 2025 para los jóvenes de Springfield de los grados K a 12.
Se invita a los estudiantes de los grados K a 12 del área de Springfield a presentar sus trabajos al concurso anual de marcadores de libros de la Biblioteca Pública de Springfield que comienza el lunes 24 de noviembre de 2025. El tema del concurso de este año es «Plata una semilla, lee», que también es el tema del Programa de Lectura de Verano 2026. Las entradas deben presentarse en el formulario de inscripción oficial, disponible en el sitio web de la biblioteca y en persona en la biblioteca. Las obras deben coincidir con el tema del concurso o tratar sobre bibliotecas, libros o la lectura en general. Se aceptan obras en inglés y/o español. Se permite una obra por estudiante.
«El concurso de seperadores de paginas es una tradición muy querida y de gran tradición en la ciudad», dijo Abigail Craig, bibliotecaria de Servicios Juveniles. «Muchos adultos, incluido al menos uno que trabaja para la ciudad, me han contado lo mucho que recuerdan haber creado diseños, o incluso haber ganado y recibido copias de sus marcapáginas. Y aunque no ganes oficialmente el concurso, podrás formar parte de nuestra exposición de todos los trabajos presentados en la Galería Juvenil de la Comisión de las Artes de Springfield durante el mes de marzo. Los visitantes de la galería podrán participar en un juego de «Veo, veo» con detalles que encontrar entre los muchos marcapáginas de la exposición». El Concurso seperadores de paginas cuenta con el apoyo de la Comisión de las Artes de Springfield.
Los ganadores recibirán un reconocimiento en la reunión del Consejo Municipal de febrero, un póster impreso de su marcapáginas y una colección de marcapáginas para compartir con amigos y familiares. Los marcapáginas estarán disponibles gratuitamente en la biblioteca durante todo el año. Se debe entregar todas las entradas antes de las 7:00 p.m. del martes 6 de enero de 2026.
