Call for Presenters on Springfield and Rural East Lane County History
Springfield, OR – The Springfield History Museum invites local historians, storytellers, and cultural experts to participate in its popular History Night at the Wildish program. This engaging speaker series brings to life the unique and diverse histories of Springfield and rural east Lane County — from the McKenzie River corridor to the Mohawk Valley and beyond.
Selected presenters will speak at the Wildish Community Theater in downtown Springfield. Talks typically run about one hour with time for audience Q&A. Past presentations have covered topics such as the Ping Yang School bombings in Marcola and the high-profile George Weyerhaeuser kidnapping.
Presenters are encouraged, but not required, to prepare a slideshow or visual accompaniment. An honorarium of $300 is provided in recognition of the time, research, and passion that presenters dedicate to preserving and sharing local history.
“History Night celebrates the voices and stories that make this region unique,” said Maddi McGraw, Museum Curator. “We’re looking for individuals who can shed light on untold or underexplored chapters of Springfield’s past and help our community connect through history.”

The Springfield History Museum, managed by the Springfield Public Library, serves as the City’s official historical repository and interpretive center. Convocatoria para Presentadores sobre la Historia de Springfield y el Este Rural del Condado de Lane
Springfield, OR – El Museo de Historia de Springfield invita a historiadores locales, narradores y expertos culturales a participar en su popular programa “Noche de Historia en el Wildish”. Esta serie de presentaciones cautivadoras da vida a las historias únicas y diversas de Springfield y el este rural del Condado de Lane, desde el corredor del río McKenzie hasta el Valle Mohawk y más allá.
Los presentadores seleccionados hablarán en el Teatro Comunitario Wildish en el centro de Springfield. Las charlas suelen durar aproximadamente una hora, con tiempo para preguntas del público. Las presentaciones anteriores han abordado temas como los bombardeos de la Escuela Ping Yang en Marcola y el notorio secuestro de George Weyerhaeuser.
Se anima a los presentadores a preparar una presentación visual, aunque no es obligatorio. Se otorgan honorarios de $300 en reconocimiento al tiempo, la investigación y la pasión que los presentadores dedican a preservar y compartir la historia local.
“La Noche de Historia celebra las voces y relatos que hacen única a nuestra región,” dijo Maddi McGraw, curadora del museo. “Buscamos personas que puedan arrojar luz sobre capítulos poco conocidos de la historia de Springfield y ayudarnos a conectarnos como comunidad a través del pasado.”
