Traffic Calming Surveys

The City of Springfield is expanding its effort to evaluate traffic calming measures and improve street safety, building on the speed calming pilot project on Centennial Boulevard. That project added speed cushions designed to slow traffic and improve safety for people walking, biking, and driving. Now, the City is asking for community feedback on three additional streets with similar speed calming, West D Street, Mill Street, and Daisy Street, to better understand how recent improvements are working and how they can shape future projects.

Each street plays an important role in the community. West D Street is the city’s busiest bike corridor and a key connection between downtown and the Eugene Springfield Northbank Path, where speed cushions and a raised crosswalk were installed to slow traffic and improve comfort for people walking and biking.

Mill Street, a neighborhood collector connecting to both Centennial Boulevard and Main Street, was recently reconstructed with raised crosswalks and speed humps to address deteriorating pavement and long-standing safety concerns for pedestrians and bicyclists.

Daisy Street is part of a planned east–west bikeway designed to provide a safer alternative to Main Street, with improvements such as raised crossings, accessibility upgrades, and traffic calming features already in place along portions of the corridor.

Community feedback from these surveys will help City traffic engineers and the Springfield City Council evaluate how well these measures are improving safety, influencing driver behavior, and supporting safe, accessible travel for all users. This input will guide future decisions on where and how traffic-calming tools are used across Springfield. Each anonymous survey takes about five minutes to complete, and we welcome you to participate and help shape safer streets for everyone.
