EVENT SUMMARY:

SPRINGFIELD, OR – Recently, the Springfield Police Department hosted two mandatory trainings for all sworn personnel.

On November 29th & 30th, the Springfield Police Department hosted instructors from Con10gency Consulting, LLC who provided department mandated C.A.L.M. Approach training to all sworn personnel.

The C.A.L.M. Approach is a comprehensive program designed to provide law enforcement a practical skill set they can exercise when dealing with open, empty-handed force encounters; skills that encompass proper communication strategies, sound decision-making, and life-saving medical considerations.

Trainings like these provide Officers the skills and resources they need to most safely respond to, and potentially de-escalate, hostile situations all in an effort to serve our community.

Throughout the week of December 12th, the Springfield Police Department hosted Active Violence Incident (AVI) Training. SPD personnel not only wrote the curriculum for the training, but they also served as instructors. Law enforcement officers from both the Lane County Sheriff’s Office & the Oregon State Police were in attendance. There were over 80 LEO’s in attendance with 20 LCSO deputies & 8 OSP troopers combining with all sworn SPD Officers to receive over 300+ total hours of training.
