NARRATIVE OF INCIDENT:
On August 30th, 2024, members of the Springfield Police Department Crime Reduction Unit partnered with loss prevention personnel from 14 Springfield businesses for a large-scale retail theft operation. The operation resulted in 24 total arrests for various crimes. None of the arrested individuals made any attempt to pay for the items they had taken from inside the store.

Roughly $1,300 worth of stolen property was recovered and was later returned to its rightful owners. SPD has engaged in several retail theft missions over the last year and will continue to partner with area retailers to address the issue.
