Development & Public Works
The Development and Public Works Department provides a variety of volunteering opportunities. Applications are currently being accepted for our Clean Water University program.
MWMC – Internships Available
If you are interested in additional information about thje City’s Clean Water University and Development and Public Works opportunities contact afossen@springfield-or.gov or the volunteer coordinator at volunteer@springfield-or.gov.
Springfield staff will drop off the Clean Water Trailer at your project site and pick it up when you are finished.
Reserving the trailer is easy! Give us a call at 541.726.3694 or send an email to WaterResources@springfield-or.gov with your name, project summary, and preferred date to reserve the Clean Water Trailer. Springfield staff will follow up with you directly. Please email us at least two weeks before you would like to begin your project. Clean Water Trailer reservations must be made by Springfield residents 18 years of age or older.

Information Kiosk: City Hall and Justice Center
Looking to Volunteer where you can reach out and help people every day? Our Information Kiosks are for you. We staff the Kiosk from 8 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday in 4.5 hours blocks of time, two people to a shift. Your responsibilities include greeting and helping people locate offices in City Hall and/or help determine which department can best assist them. A phone may ring once in a while also.  It’s that simple. If you love to meet and greet people… enjoy helping people and want to serve your community…our City Hall Information Kiosk is for you.  Minimum Requirements are: you must be able to volunteer at least 4.5 hours a week, every other week for 6 months.

Library
Library volunteers provide a wide network of support in all areas of the library. Primarily, the library volunteers assist in re-shelving returned materials. These include books, magazines, audio books, and movies.  Other opportunities include helping in book mending, book jacketing, and withdrawing library materials.
Occasionally there are opportunities for volunteers in assisting the youth librarians to prepare crafts for story times and other children’s programs and to assist the adult librarians in cleaning the public computers.
Additional opportunities to volunteer in support of the Library Department include serving on the Arts Commission, Library Board, Friends of the Library, the Library Foundation, and TAB (Teen Advisory Board).
Library volunteers are placed in positions which benefit both the volunteer and the Library in a wide network of support.

Photographer / Videographer
We need team members who will professionally and artistically capture the many facets of the City of Springfield, Springfield Police Department, its employees, volunteers and the community that we serve. We are looking for photographers and videographers who can serve as archivists for historical purposes as well as provide images that may be displayed and utilized for advertising, marketing, promotional and public displays.
- Work with the many departments and events within the City of Springfield.
- Photograph special events, training, and community relation opportunities.
- Create video and photo displays
- Other projects as they arise or as volunteer interest directs.

Springfield Police Department
SPD Volunteer team is made up of citizens who want to support their police department, students who need to earn school credit, part-time and full-time employees, retirees, and stay at home citizens. Our Volunteer team also includes those interested in pursuing a career in law enforcement as well as Citizen Police Academy graduates.

Internships
We offer a variety of unpaid internship which provide academic credits. Include your resume, a cover letter, with your application.
