Springfield, OR – The City of Springfield invites members of the media to attend a grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrating the completion of the Mill Street Reconstruction Project.

Why It Matters:
The Mill Street Reconstruction Project transforms one of Springfield’s key travel corridors into a safer, more connected, and more welcoming route for all who drive, walk, bike, or roll through the heart of the community.
Project Background:
This major capital improvement fully reconstructs a critical section of Mill Street, between Main Street and Centennial Boulevard, that had fallen into disrepair, improving access, safety, and long-term reliability. The project includes:
- New pavement and ADA-compliant sidewalks and curb ramps
- Enhanced street lighting for pedestrian and traffic safety
- Upgraded stormwater and wastewater infrastructure
- Filled gaps in Springfield’s bicycle network
- Relocated underground utilities to support future resiliency
Led by K&E Excavating Inc. under an $11.3 million contract, the project supports the City’s goals for a safer, more reliable, and more welcoming transportation corridor for the Springfield community.
