NARRATIVE OF INCIDENT:
On November 20, 2024, SPD responded to the 4900-block of Glacier Drive for a report of a package theft from a porch. The packages contained over $500 worth of parts that the victim needed to fix their vehicle. Footage from the residence’s doorbell security device showed the suspect and an associated vehicle which was shared via social media with Springfield community members, who provided a potential lead.

While following-up on the lead, officers visited the 5400 block of E Street and located some of the stolen property on the front porch of a residence. While officers were speaking with a female subject, a male suspect, later identified as Daniel Alvin Lopez, ran from the rear of the home out of sight.

Additional SPD officers responded to the scene, including a K9 team and a drone. Lopez was seen running from the yard across multiple lanes of Highway 126. The SPD drone operator was able to track Lopez and lead officers to his location. Lopez was taken into custody without further incident.

Once Lopez was identified, officers were able to confirm that he was wanted on a number of charges, including felony assault, in addition to being charged in the package theft. Lopez was lodged at the Lane County Jail on the charges below.
