This Sunday, July 17, and Monday, July 18, 2022, the World Athletics Championships marathons will take place in parts of Eugene and Springfield which will affect traffic in the area between 4 and 10 a.m.

The marathon route will be closed to vehicles during these times. For most people who live near the course, there will be alternate access. For some residents, whose driveways or cul-de-sacs are directly on the marathon route, there will be no vehicular access in or out during the operational hours (4 -10 a.m.).

If residents must use their vehicles during these times, they will need to move vehicles the night before to a nearby street not shown in red on the map below. Traffic delays should be expected for all residents and businesses during event operational hours.

From July 10-27, Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard will be closed between both intersections of Leo Harris Parkway. Through traffic on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard will be detoured onto Leo Harris Parkway.

Barricades will mark street closures at various points around the racecourse. NO PARKING signs will be posted in areas where parking is not permitted. Vehicles in NO PARKING areas may be towed. Residents and businesses in the area have been notified prior to the closures.

We ask drivers to please be alert for traffic control changes in the area and follow posted signs. Additionally, we encourage community members to follow the World Athletics Championships Oregon22 social media channels for any updates related to this event.
