King, Jacob Aaron 32 Year-Old | Eugene, OR
NARRATIVE OF INCIDENT:
On Dec. 10, 2024, at 0443hrs, Springfield Police Department received 911 calls of a vehicle traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes of Main Street against the flow of traffic in the area of 32nd St. The vehicle nearly struck several vehicles before turning onto S A St, still traveling against traffic.
The suspect vehicle struck another vehicle before coming to a stop near the intersection of S A St and 7th St. The driver of the other vehicle did not require further medical attention.
Officers attempted to contact the suspect (King, Jacob Aaron), who was not compliant. King then began to barricade themselves in the rear of the vehicle, a large van. Officers on scene observed ammunition inside of the van, while a trained negotiator responded to the scene and continued attempts to contact King, who was not responsive.
Less than lethal munitions were then utilized in an attempt to draw King out of the vehicle. While King continued efforts to block the windows of the vehicle, the less than lethal munitions were effective, and King exited the van and was detained without further incident or injury.
King was evaluated at an area hospital then lodged at the Springfield Municipal Jail on the charges listed below.
