“Clean streets, Clean river. Let’s trash little litter!”

Check out Springfield’s newest street sweeper! Springfield’s Stormwater Team joined forces with Springfield’s Operations Division to wrap this shiny new vehicle with this useful reminder.

A major reason for street sweeping is to get litter and debris out of street gutters before it washes into storm drains. Water entering Springfield’s storm drains empties directly into our rivers and streams – the water is not treated. Trashing little litter like receipts, food wrappers, cigarette butts, and used fireworks keeps them out of gutters, out of storm drains, and out of the rivers we use for recreation and resources.

Thanks for helping “trashing little litter” by putting it in the garbage, where it belongs. And keep an eye out for this sweeper in your neighborhood!
