EUGENE, OR. – Law enforcement officers from agencies in the Eugene- Springfield area will be participating in the Annual Track Town Polar Plunge. The plunge, and accompanying 5k, will be taking place this Saturday, February 18th at Maurie Jacobs Park starting at 10am. Officers from the Springfield Police Department, Eugene Police Department, and the Lane County Sheriff’s Office will join over 3,000 others this winter in taking the plunge to support Special Olympics Oregon.

At the time of this release, nearly 40 members of the three aforementioned Law Enforcement Organizations are registered with nearly $8,000 raised for Special Olympics Athletes here in the Eugene-Springfield area.

The Track Town Polar Plunge is made possible by the generous support of statewide and local sponsors: Law Enforcement Torch Run of Oregon, EMBOLD Credit Union, Lithia & Driveway, Mattress World Northwest, and Jiffy Lube. We would also like to recognize the Lane County Sheriff’s Office for providing water-safety coverage throughout the duration of the event via their Search & Rescue program, Volunteer Dive Team, and safety officers.
