EUGENE, OR. – Law enforcement officers from agencies in the Eugene- Springfield area participated in the Annual Eugene Polar Plunge. The plunge, and accompanying 5k, took place Saturday, February 18th at Maurie Jacobs Park. Officers from the Springfield Police Department, the Eugene Police Department, the University of Oregon Police Department, and the Lane County Sheriff’s Office participated with over 40 members attending.

At the time of this release, the four agencies have combined to raise nearly $12,000 for Special Olympics Athletes here in the Eugene-Springfield area.

The Track Town Polar Plunge is made possible by the generous support of statewide and local sponsors: Law Enforcement Torch Run of Oregon, EMBOLD Credit Union, Lithia & Driveway, Mattress World Northwest, and Jiffy Lube. We would also like to recognize the Lane County Sheriff’s Office for providing water-safety coverage throughout the duration of the event via their Search & Rescue program, Volunteer Dive Team, and safety officers.
