The Springfield Police Department is no longer seeking the public’s assistance with identifying the suspect in this incident.
Thanks to assistance from a community member, who was able to identify the involved vehicle and driver, Officers have located and interviewed the driver of the suspect vehicle. The driver, a 17-year-old female from Springfield, was cooperative with police. She has been charged with Hit & Run (felony) and the case will be handled by the Juvenile Division of the Lane County District Attorney’s office. All of the passengers what were in the vehicle have been identified and are cooperating with police. All of the passengers were also juveniles.
The names of the involved juveniles (suspect and passengers) are not being released.
NARRATIVE OF INCIDENT:
On 07/27/2026 at 7:53 pm officers responded to a reported hit & run in the 4500 block of Main Street. The initial investigation revealed that a 39-year-old man was riding his three wheeled bicycle westbound in the 4500 block of Main Street when he was struck by a vehicle. The vehicle that struck the cyclist failed to stop and provide aid or call emergency services. The victim sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Officers obtained video footage from a nearby business of the likely suspect vehicle and are trying to identify the driver and occupants. Still shots from the footage, released by SPD, depict the vehicle in question. Any witnesses to the crash, or persons that may have knowledge of the suspect vehicle are asked to contact the Springfield Police.
