Springfield, OR — Flock Safety has begun the process of taking down all automated license plate reader (ALPR) cameras in the City of Springfield, in accordance with what the Springfield Police Department (SPD) previously announced.

The removal process is underway, and all ALPR units are expected to be taken down by the end of this week. This action follows SPD’s earlier decision to discontinue the use of Flock ALPR technology and to have the cameras fully removed from service.

This move does not represent a shift away from ALPR technology itself. SPD will continue to work closely with the community and our law enforcement partners, including the Eugene Police Department, to identify tools that Police can use to enhance public safety and meet our standards for data security, system transparency, and operational control.
