The City of Springfield’s Stormwater Team and Willamalane invite you to roll up your sleeves for a United Way Days of Caring planting event at Jasper Pond and Slough! Together, we’ll plant about 400 native trees and shrubs in an area where invasive plants were recently removed. This site is home to nesting northwestern pond turtles, and your work will directly support their habitat. You’ll also get to check out Willamalane’s new wildlife viewing platform and see firsthand how we’re enhancing this special place. Volunteers will plant shrubs in pre-drilled holes, and enjoy time outdoors with neighbors, community members, and coworkers. The Stormwater Team provides tools, instruction, and pizza for lunch! Bring a water bottle and wear close-toed shoes. You can sign up as an individual or as a group. This is a great team-building opportunity for co-workers who care about Springfield and love our waterways. Springfield’s Stormwater Team works to improve our rivers, so they help you improve them too. springfieldstreams.org
