Coming Up @ Your Library

Ventriloquism & Comedy for Kids at the Library

Join us at Springfield Public Library at 6 p.m., Monday, August 19 for returning favorite performer Vikki Gasko Green and her army of adorable puppets. This elementary enrichment program leads kids on an exploration of the art of Hispanic music and an introduction to the Spanish language. Just like a Spanish Fiesta, this kid’s program is a fun, festive, and musical celebration that will have your kids singing along as they learn. During the program, children’s entertainer, Vikki Gasko Green introduces students to interesting facts about Hispanic people, music, food, and culture.

Attendees will also learn:

  • basic Spanish words and phrases
  • fun Spanish greeting song
  • colors

Summer Reading Finale Concert with Red Yarn

Join us for the very last family event of Summer Reading 2019 at 6 p.m., Tuesday, August 27 at the Springfield Public Library! Red Yarn (Andy Fergeson) is a perennial favorite of kids and adults alike. We can’t recommend this enough – come and enjoy! Check out more about Red Yarn:

“Red Yarn (aka Andy Furgeson) weaves folksongs and puppetry into high-energy, interactive shows for family audiences. Red Yarn will have audiences singing, dancing, stomping, clapping, and celebrating the multicultural musical heritage of the USA. With traditional and original songs blending old time, classic rock and indie folk, Red Yarn’s dynamic sound is both rooted and modern.

As Red leads audiences through the landscapes of American folklore (depicted on beautiful quilted backdrops), he introduces his Critter friends along the way. These handmade animal puppets provide comic relief, calm and tender moments, and valuable social-emotional lessons.

Red Yarn has performed at South by Southwest, Stagecoach Country Music Festival, Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts, Symphony Space, Pickathon, Northwest String Summit, and libraries and children’s museums across the country. Accolades for Red Yarn’s albums include NAPPA Gold, Parents’ Choice, and Fids & Kamily Music Awards, and frequent play on SiriusXM Kids Place Live.”
