What is a Public Works Technician?

Our Public Works Technicians perform skilled tasks to maintain infrastructure throughout Springfield.

Work includes maintaining:

  • Streets
  • Wastewater systems
  • Surface and subsurface stormwater systems
  • Street signs and surface markings
  • Buildings
  • Equipment Landscaped areas

Technicians also participate in:

  • The collection, tabulation, and review of field data
  • Routine traffic studies
  • Condition surveys and inventories of public infrastructure
  • Wastewater pipe TV inspection and flow monitoring
  • Removal of hazardous objects/materials
  • Special project assignments
