P21177 – S 32nd at Virginia

Development & Public Works

Project Status:

Design is in progress.

Project Description:

Virginia Avenue and Daisy Street have been identified for street design changes to provide a safe and comfortable bicycle corridor that can be used by people of all ages and abilities.

The City of Springfield engaged the community in a planning process to develop the Virginia-Daisy Bikeway Project final design concept, which Springfield City Council approved in November 2016. Through that planning process, it became clear that neighbors wanted to see crossing enhancements between the neighborhood on the east side of the street and Willamalane’s regional Bob Keefer Center on the west side of the street. This crossing also provides another safer crossing for students to walk down the west side of the street to Agnes Stewart Middle School from the neighborhood.

This project will add a rectangular rapid flashing beacon crossing with a pedestrian refuge island on the southern leg of the intersection of S. 32nd St at Virginia Ave.
