Project Status:
Bidding for this project closed on July 20, 2022. The contract was awarded to Brown Contracting, Inc. in the amount of $215,395.67.
Construction is now complete.
Project Description:
The intersection of Gateway Street and Kruse Way has had a significant number of crashes in recent years. The inside northbound lane on Gateway Street backs up on a regular basis while leaving an opening at the intersection of Gateway and Kruse to allow the intersection traffic to continue to make movements. This results in Gateway southbound traffic attempting to make a left turn and getting hit by the outside northbound lane traffic. There have also been crashes resulting from westbound traffic making left turns from Kruse Way onto Gateway.
Closing the southbound left turn lane and installing a median across the intersection to restrict the turning movements at Gateway Street and Kruse Way would eliminate these crashes and provide a safer intersection with still allowing a northbound right-in and westbound right-out movement.
This project involves installing raised median islands, traffic separators along Gateway Street, and a Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacon (RRFB) crossing south of the Gateway Street/Kruse Way intersection.
If the pre-bid meeting is listed as MANDATORY bids will not be accepted from bidders unless it can be confirmed by a signature on the Pre-Bid Meeting Sign-in Sheet that a representative of the organization attended the meeting.
