Development & Public Works

Project Status:

Design is starting soon.

Project Description:

The City has received a Safe Routes to School (SRTS) construction grant. This funding will support critical infrastructure improvements aimed at enhancing safety and accessibility for students traveling to and from Hamlin Middle school. The project includes the following components:

  • School Zone Enhancements on 5th Street: Improvements will be made between Centennial Boulevard and Q Street to increase visibility and safety in the school zone. Enhancements may include signage, pavement markings, and enhanced pedestrian crossings.
  • Olympic Street Multi-Use Path: A new multi-use path will be constructed along Olympic Street between 5th and 6th Streets. This shared-use path will provide a new connection for pedestrians and cyclists from the neighborhood.
  • Pleasant Street right of way Multi-Use Path: Another multi-use path will be developed in the Pleasant Street right-of-way between 8th and 10th Streets. This path will offer a dedicated, off-street connection for students and community members.

These improvements are part of the City’s ongoing commitment to promoting safe, active transportation options for children and families in our community.
