Springfield, OR – The City of Springfield is seeking passionate community members to serve on the Springfield Historic Commission. This is an opportunity for residents to contribute to the preservation and celebration of Springfield’s rich cultural heritage.
The Historic Commission plays a key role in identifying, protecting, and promoting the city’s historic resources. Members provide guidance on historic preservation efforts, review restoration and development proposals, and support educational initiatives that foster public appreciation for Springfield’s history.

Available Position:
Historic Commission
- Positions: Total of Four
- Two positions expire 12/31/26
- Two positions expire 12/31/28
- Duties:

- Review development and restoration proposals for properties within the Washburne Historic District and Springfield’s Landmark Inventory.
- Support community education and outreach on historic preservation.
- Advocate for policies and programs that protect Springfield’s historic assets.
- Eligibility: Applicants must reside within Springfield’s urban growth boundary. A background in historic preservation, architecture, planning, or community engagement is helpful but not required.

Selection Process:
Applicants will be interviewed by the Springfield City Council during scheduled work sessions in April 2025. Specific dates and times will be announced.
