City of Springfield Launches FY26 Budget Adoption Process

Springfield, OR – The City of Springfield invites the public to participate in Springfield budget meetings for the FY26 budget adoption process beginning May 12, 2025. These meetings offer an opportunity for residents to review and comment on the proposed fiscal year budget running from July 1, 2025, to June 30, 2026.

 

Meetings will be held in-person at Springfield City Hall (Library Meeting Room, 225 5th Street) and virtually via Zoom. All are welcome and encouraged to participate.

City of Springfield Budget Committee:

  • Monday, May 12 at 5:30 p.m. – Election of Officers, City Manager Welcome, Budget Message Presentation, Business from the Audience
  • Tuesday, May 13 at 5:30 p.m. – Business from the Audience, Committee Deliberation
  • Wednesday, May 14 at 5:30 p.m. – Business from the Audience, Committee Deliberation, State Shared Revenue, Budget Approval Motions

 

SEDA Budget Committee:

  • Wednesday, May 14 at 5:30 p.m. – SEDA Budget Presentation, Business from the Audience, Board Deliberation, Budget Approval Motion

The doors at the west and south entrances to City Hall will be open to allow people to attend the meeting in person in the Library Meeting Room. The meeting location is wheelchair accessible. For the hearing-impaired, an interpreter can be provided with 48 hours’ notice prior to the meeting. A “Personal PA Receiver” for the hearing impaired is available, as well as an Induction Loop for the benefit of hearing aid users. Public Comment Opportunities

Members of the public may comment on the FY26 proposed budget via:

  1. In-person: Share your comments directly at the meetings. All comments are limited to three minutes and will be read into the record if time allows.
  2. Zoom: Raise your hand during the “Business from the Audience” section to speak.
  3. Email: Send comments to budget@springfield-or.gov by 3:00 p.m. the day of the meeting. Please include your name and ward.
  4. Mail: Send written comments with your name and ward by May 14 to: Finance Department, Attn: Jessica Mumme | 225 Fifth Street, Springfield, OR 97477

 

Background on the Budget Committees

The City of Springfield Budget Committee is a 12-member panel, including six elected City Councilors and six appointed residents. They review and deliberate on the proposed annual budget.

The SEDA Budget Committee includes the same 12 members, plus Mayor Sean VanGordon, Lane County Commissioner David Loveall, and representatives from the Glenwood and Downtown Urban Renewal Districts who either live or own businesses within those districts.
