Spring Festival in Springfield – A Free Community Event

Come help us welcome in the Year of the Horse!

 

Springfield, OR – The Lunar New Year, also known as the Spring Festival, is celebrated across the globe as a time of renewal, hope, and fresh beginnings. In Springfield, the Public Library and History Museum are joining with the Oregon Multigenerational Community Center and other local partners to host a family-friendly celebration that honors the diversity and richness of our community.

 

This free event features live performances, arts and crafts, and delicious food tastings. Whether you’re deeply familiar with Lunar New Year traditions or curious to learn more, all are welcome to join in an afternoon of celebration, creativity, and community.

 

Highlights include:

  • Lion dance and taiko drumming from local youth
  • Hawaiian hula, Tibetan folk dancing, and a Qipao fashion show
  • Community performances and hands-on crafts
  • Tasting tables with festive treats
  • A special pop-up art display by Eugene-based artist and photographer Melissa “Mimi” Nolledo, featuring selections from Our Stories: Immigrants of America, a community-centered photo essay that honors the voices, resilience, and contributions of immigrants who help shape our shared story.

Location: Springfield Public Library, located in City Hall (225 Fifth Street, Springfield)
