Acorn Circle: Native American Cultural Learning for Kids: Presented by Springfield Public Library

Springfield, OR – This fall, the Springfield Public Library, in partnership with Singing Creek Educational Center (SCEC), invites children ages 6-10 to participate in the Acorn Circle Program. This program brings Native American cultural learning to libraries and community centers through engaging, hands-on educational experiences.

Singing Creek Educational Center, a local non-profit specializing in living history education for children and families, will lead three sessions using curriculum from the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde. Each class will feature a book reading and related craft project, offering kids an opportunity to connect with Native American stories and traditions. Teachers of grades one to three are also encouraged to attend for classroom inspiration.

Books featured include Let’s Go Eeling, Mulak Man, and Coyote and the Fish Trap.

Session Details:

  • Friday, September 27, 1:30 p.m. – Let’s Go Eeling and make a basket.
  • Friday, October 11, 1:30 p.m. – Mulak Man and make a pouch.
