NARRATIVE OF INCIDENT:

On January 7th 2022 at about 4:27p.m. Springfield Police along with ODOT personnel diverted traffic in the 4600 block of Main Street for several hours as Officers investigated a vehicle versus pedestrian crash at that location.

78-year-old Ruth Trujillo of Eugene suffered serious injuries after she attempted to cross Main Street and was struck by a westbound Honda Civic operated by 21-year-old Uriel Arzola-Ramirez.

Arzola-Ramirez remained at the scene and was cooperative with responding officers.  The preliminary investigation reveals that neither speed nor intoxicating substances were a factor in this crash.

The Springfield Police Department’s Major Accident Investigation Team is actively investigating this incident and is advising anyone who may have witnessed the crash or may have video surveillance of the incident to please contact Officer Caitlin Gold at 541-726-3714.
