Location: 1069 20th Street, Springfield, OR

Case Number: 21-05555

Date/Time: August 10, 2021 at about 2:49 pm

Springfield Police arrest man on charges of Arson 1, three counts of Reckless Endangerment, and Parole Violation

Background:

On 08/10/21 at approximately 2:49 pm, Springfield Police officers were dispatched to provide assistance at a house fire located at 1069 20th St.

When officers arrived, the fire had already been put out by Eugene Springfield Fire. The fire burned an exterior wall of the residence and a fence.

The Deputy Fire Marshall believed that the cause of the fire was suspicious and possibly set intentionally.

During the initial investigation officers discovered Brian Douglas Lane, age 29, had just left the home before the fire was noticed.

While officers were interviewing witnesses at the scene of the fire, another officer found Lane at 42nd Street and Industrial Way. Lane was initially taken into custody on a parole violation where he was transported to the Lane County Jail and lodged.

Additional evidence discovered at the scene led officers to charge Lane with one count of Arson 1. He was also charged with three counts of Reckless Endangerment because there were three people inside the house at the time the fire was started.
