Springfield Police arrest domestic assault suspect with the assistance of community member tip

On August 31 at about 4:35 am Springfield Police dispatch received a report of a domestic assault.

When officers arrived at the home, the victim had injuries consistent with an assault. There was also a child in the home.

Officers began to search the area with the help of a K9, as the suspect had already left on foot.

Officers also contacted businesses and others in the area, and asked them to call SPD dispatch if they saw anyone matching the description of the suspect.

Officer continued to search for the suspect. At about 6:43 am, one of the community members contacted by police earlier called SPD dispatch to let us know he saw a man matching the description of the suspect walking southbound on 42nd Street.

Officers contacted the man and determined he was the suspect they were looking for.

Phillips, Anthony Terrial, 45, was arrested on a booking charge of Felony Assault 4, Abuse Prevention Act (APA) – (https://oregon.public.law/statutes/ors_133.055) – and was lodged in the Lane County Jail.

SPD officers did an excellent job of continuing to work this case and find this suspect. SPD appreciates this community member taking the time to help us on this case.
